The Gather Company is seeking an exceptional hospitality leader to serve as General Manager & Executive Chef for two of Pittsburgh's most distinctive boutique inns—The Inn on Negley in Shadyside and Boggs Mansion in the historic Mexican War Streets neighborhood.

This is not a traditional Executive Chef position, nor is it a conventional General Manager role. It is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial leader to oversee every aspect of the guest experience—from lodging operations and team leadership to culinary innovation and business development.

The Opportunity

You will oversee two unique Pittsburgh properties that complement one another:

The Inn on Negley

A luxury boutique inn known for elevated lodging, exceptional breakfasts, and one of Pittsburgh's premier High Tea experiences. The property also hosts private events, celebrations, and intimate gatherings.

Boggs Mansion

A beautifully restored historic mansion with tremendous opportunity for growth. In addition to luxury accommodations, the property offers space to develop new hospitality concepts, expanded private events, culinary programming, and the potential creation of a production kitchen supporting future food and beverage initiatives across our company.

Together, these properties provide a rare opportunity to combine hospitality leadership with culinary creativity while building new revenue opportunities and guest experiences.




Position Overview

As General Manager & Executive Chef, you will have operational responsibility for both properties. You will lead the lodging experience, culinary operations, financial performance, property presentation, team development, and guest satisfaction while identifying opportunities to grow the business through innovative food and beverage programming, events, and community partnerships.

Success in this role requires someone who enjoys both leading people and creating memorable experiences.




Key Responsibilities

Hospitality & Property Leadership

Deliver an exceptional guest experience from reservation through departure

Lead all day-to-day operations for both boutique inns

Recruit, develop, coach, and inspire Innkeepers, culinary staff, housekeepers, servers, and maintenance personnel

Build a culture centered on hospitality, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement

Oversee financial performance, budgeting, labor management, and profitability

Maintain exceptional property standards, cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation

Ensure quality assurance and operational consistency

Build relationships within the Pittsburgh community and represent The Gather Company locally

Identify new business opportunities that increase occupancy, food and beverage revenue, and guest engagement

Culinary Leadership

Direct all food and beverage operations across both properties

Design and execute seasonal breakfast menus

Lead and continually elevate our signature High Tea program

Develop memorable culinary events, chef dinners, wine experiences, and private functions

Create scalable recipes and operating standards that may be implemented throughout our portfolio

Oversee food purchasing, inventory, vendor relationships, and cost controls

Maintain exceptional food quality, presentation, and sanitation standards

Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing culinary team

Ensure food cost and labor goals are consistently achieved

Business Development & Innovation

This position offers the opportunity to think beyond traditional inn operations.

What We're Looking For

5+ years of progressive hospitality leadership experience

Professional culinary leadership with Executive Chef responsibilities

Experience overseeing both front-of-house and back-of-house operations

Strong financial acumen including budgeting, labor management, and cost controls

Proven success developing and leading high-performing teams

Outstanding organizational and communication skills

Passion for hospitality and personalized guest experiences

Creativity in menu development and food & beverage programming

Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify and execute growth opportunities

Experience with catering, private events, weddings, or upscale dining preferred

ServSafe Certification preferred
